Ms. Nydia M. Tarrant

Welcome! My name is Ms. Nydia Tarrant. I am honored to meet you. I worked at Strong Middle School from 2012-2016 as an Academic Interventionist, and then, as a 6th grade social studies teacher.  After leaving Strong, I went to Hamtramck Charter Academy and taught middle school social studies from 2016-2022. I returned to my Strong Family in 2023. I feel very blessed and happy to be back where I belong.

Here's a little background information about me: I graduated from the University of Michigan- Dearborn with a Bachelors of Arts degree in History and Social Studies. I also obtained a Masters of Arts degree in Education from the same university. In addition, I've continued to update my technology skills by taking classes at Henry Ford College.

My family are Tejanos from Brownsville, Texas. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers. My grandparents were married for 75 years. Our family is very proud of their legacy. I have 6 nephews, but no nieces. One of my sisters lives in Arlington, Texas with her family. However, the majority of my family live in Michigan.

My hobbies include playing the piano, writing songs to help students learn, and riding horses. I am a novice horse rider and continue to learn all I can about how to take care of a horse, their diet and grooming needs and how to keep myself and the horse safe when we are riding. I am a very family and service-oriented person.  I look forwarding to meeting you in the Fall. This is going to be an amazing 2023-2024 school year!
