Clubs/Groups

Strong Middle School offers several different after school clubs that provide our students the opportunity to extend their learning beyond normal classroom hours.

BULLY BUSTER CREW

Bully Buster Program is a program that models positive behavior and empowers students to feel comfortable reporting bullying behavior. At the beginning of the year, every student is sent with a Parent/Student compact that must be signed by both parties; promising a commitment for a safe school. The Bully Buster Crew meets every other week, twice a month with assigned teachers. Counselors are Ms. Tonya Kujat and Ms. Laura Dolinski.

CARDINAL TECH TEAM

The Cardinal Tech Team is a group of selected students who will work with the district tech team to educate students and teachers on how to use technology in the district. Additionally, students will be trained to maintain a website, replace computer parts, troubleshoot computer problems, and set up classroom technology for teachers. Students must apply and interview to earn a position on the Cardinal Tech Team.

STRONG HONOR SOCIETY

Must maintain a 3.5 for the first two card markings of current year and last two of previous year, in 7th or 8th Grade, teacher evaluation of an average of 15 or higher with no low/poor (1), or below average (2), and an essay (one page or less) of “Why I deserve to be a member of Strong Honor Society”. Academically eligible students will be accepted based on their performance in the fields of Leadership, Service, Citizenship, and Character.

Strong Honors Society is a service organization and that requires six hours of service each semester (each activity counts for just one hour), plus five hours of tutoring at Allendale Elementary. Membership is more than just an honor. It incurs a responsibility and an obligation to demonstrate the qualities that were a part of your selection. In order for Strong Honor Society to be effective and meaningful, each member must become involved in all of our meetings/projects and be a leader of Strong Middle School.

WAYNE METRO PROGRAM

W.E.B. Program

WEB, which stands for “Where Everybody Belongs” is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th/7th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains mentors from the 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the 6th/7th graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th/7th grade success.

More and more studies show that if students have a positive experience their first year in middle school, their chances for success increase dramatically. WEB provides the structure for 6th/7th graders to receive support and guidance from 8th graders who have been through the challenges that middle school poses and understand that the transition to a larger school can sometimes be overwhelming.

WEB also acts as an anti-bullying program for your school by providing it with a cadre of student leaders who look for bullying behavior and help stop it. WEB gives older students permission to be aware of and report any negative behavior they see, creating a safer school for everybody.
