Letter from the Technology Coordinator 6-8-2022

Dear Cardinal Families,

As we approach the summer, we want to provide you with important information regarding your child’s school-issued device:

All students in grades 2-8 and any high school students with a school-issued Chromebook who have a “Student Device Take-Home Permission Form” on file will be keeping their device at home for the summer.

We ask that you follow the best practices outlined below, which will help ensure that your student's school-issued Chromebook is in proper working order when we return to school on August 29, 2022:

  • Always Use Two Hands While Carrying Your Chromebook
  • Do Not Eat or Drink Around Your Chromebook
  • Charge the Chromebook Using the School Issued Charger
  • Store the Chromebook in a Safe and Secure Spot at Home
  • Use Your Chromebook on a Flat Surface: This Helps to Keep the Chromebook Cooler and Avoids Excessive Heat
  • Do Not Download Unauthorized Extensions or Software to the Chromebook
  • Continue to Follow the District’s Digital Citizenship Expectations & Acceptable Use Policy

It is also important to note that even during the summer months, your child’s school-issued device is still monitored by Securly, the district’s filtering and monitoring system. It is important to remember that these devices are the property of MelNAP Public Schools and the device should only be used by the student it was issued to, as they are responsible for the device’s care.

***If you plan to change schools during the summer months and will no longer be a MelNAP student in August 2022; please return your device & charger to the Board of Education Office as soon as possible:

Sincerely,
