MelNAP Schools Busing Update

Dear Cardinal Families,

We are excited to share that we can begin busing for our Rogers and Allendale students beginning on February 23rd, 2022. As you know, staffing bus drivers has been an ongoing challenge, so I want to thank our dedicated staff as we begin to roll out busing again. Currently, we only have enough drivers to serve our elementary students. We are committed to the creation of a busing schedule for middle and high school students in the near future. Thank you for your patience with this endeavor.

We are providing busing for our students who live one or more miles away from their home school in the cities of Melvindale and Northern Allen Park. It is critical to know that the routes have changed, so please see the maps that were emailed to all families. For safety and ease, your students have received bus tags for their book bags that indicate their bus and route. Please ensure that students have the tag attached to their book bag. If the students do not have their tag, they will have to get a temporary tag from the office. No student will be allowed on the bus without a tag. Rogers students must have a parent/guardian at the bus stop for pick- up and drop off. If a Rogers parent/guardian is not present at the bus stop for drop off, students will be brought to the Transportation Department at Melvindale High School, door #17. A Rogers parent or guardian will have to pick up their child at this location. We understand that issues arise; however, if a child is not picked up two times within a semester, the student risks losing bus privileges.

Quick Tips/Busing Requirements:
  • All students must have a tag.
  • Students should be at the bus 10 minutes before pick up and expect that drop off could be delayed due to weather conditions, traffic, or other extenuating circumstances.
  • Until further notice, masks must be worn at all times.
  • Please check the book bag tag to ensure that your child’s bus stop and address are correct. If there is incorrect information, please contact your child’s school immediately.
  • For safety reasons, parents may not enter the bus for any reason.

We know how important busing is to our students’ education. Thank you for your patience as we restart our busing. If you have any questions, please contact your building principal. Finally, please see the attached documents that address bus maps and bus behavioral expectations.

Yours truly,
Dr. Mary Ann Cyr
Interim Superintendent
