Mrs. Tamara Campbell-Burns

Dear students,

Welcome. Welcome to your Special Education classroom. My name is Mrs. Campbell.  I am looking forward to being your teacher for the 2020-21 school year. I am a veteran teacher with over fifteen years of experience. I’ve taught grades 6,7,8,9,10,11, college classes, and workshops for other teachers.  Outside of class, I go to workshops, conferences, professional development meetings, college classes, and seminars. I even served on the board of directors for the Michigan Reading Association. I also read professional journals and work together with my fellow teachers in professional organizations. So, you know that I am up to date in my professional knowledge and my teaching skills. Most important, I love to teach, and I am proud to be a educator. I even won two Teacher of the Year awards: one from the Michigan Reading Association and one from the Wayne County Reading Council. I’m telling you this, so you can relax. You are in good hands with me. I have a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and I have a master’s degree from Madonna University. I am certified to teach English, Political Science, and to teach students with learning disabilities.

We are going to have one of the most high-tech educational experiences of your life, this year.  This virtual classroom will be well organized, and you will feel well cared for while you are in it. We will not only read and write, but I will also share some life skills and secrets that will help you succeed in today’s world. I can assure you that if you should run into me at the shopping mall 25 years from now, you will say, “You were right, Mrs. Campbell. That was the most memorable, exciting, and fascinating years I ever had.”

We are going to review your files, to make sure that you understand your IEPs. It’s important to me that you understand your learning differences, goals, accommodations, modifications, and service hours. We will practice to improve your literacy skills. We will monitor your progress and report it. We will prepare for your IEPs together, so that you share control and contribute to the process. I will team teach with some of your teachers, so you will see me in their Google Meet sessions. The best thing is - I promise you will grow while you are with me.You are already an excellent student. When you finish this class, you will be an even better one.

Kind regards,

Mrs. Campbell
