Ms. Jillian Tomilenko

I am proud to be one of the English teachers here at Strong Middle School. This year I will start my 4th year of teaching and my first year in the Melvindale-Northern Allen Park school district. I am so honored to be a part of the Cardinal Family and I look forward to getting to know all of you!

 

I grew up and went to school in Plymouth and attended Saginaw Valley State University for my teaching degree. I guess it is only fitting that I went from being a Cardinal in college to now a Cardinal at the school I teach at!

 

I love reading books for pleasure, but also professional development books. I also love being able to learn both from my students and fellow teachers. One of my favorite parts of teaching is when students are able to shed light on a topic that I haven't yet thought of. I truly believe learning is a lifelong journey and hope to pursue my masters degree in the next few years. 

 

When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my boyfriend, and our 3 year old Goldendoodle, Charlie. We enjoy traveling, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and reading in our hammocks. We enjoy being outdoors as often as we can! In my free time, I enjoy spending time on the water, reading, playing euchre, listening to music on my record player, creating digital art, playing and coaching volleyball.

 

I am extremely excited to start this new school year with all of you! I cannot wait to become apart of the Strong family!
