2. Click on the cell above the numbers and to the left of the letters so that you select all cells on the sheet.
3. Resize the cells to be as close to the squares as possible.
4. Click on "Format" from the tool bar. Then, scroll down the menu and select "Conditional Formatting"
5. In the Conditional Formatting menu under "Format Rules" select, Format cells if..."Is equal to"
6. Select a number for a color
7. Under formatting style select a color for the fill bucket
8. Use that number in the cells in the Google Sheet for that color
9. To add different colors repeat the process, this time select "Add a rule" inside the Conditional Formatting Menu. Make sure the Range is set to: A1:Z1000. To fill the background with one color, select "Is Empty" in the Format rules.
